◼︎ What is a military Ball?
A military ball is a celebratory, exciting and tradition-rich event. It is social and formal in nature.
This is an event where you get to witness firsthand how beautiful it is to keep traditions alive while bringing everyone together for a lot of fun.
◼︎ Can I bring a non military guest?
Yes. A military service member can bring one guest and will pay the same amount as their sponsor. Additional tickets may be purchased at the full Tier 6 rate.
◼︎ Can I bring my children?
Due to the formal nature of this military function, children are not able to attend the Coast Guard Ball.
◼︎ Is Childcare provided?
We are not providing childcare for this event.
◼︎ Where do I stay?
A number of rooms have been blocked at a special rate for this event at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis.

◼︎ Is parking available?
Both self and valet parking is available at the hotel, at Marriott Marquis rates. Other parking garages in the area are also a choice. Make sure you don’t leave any valuables visible in the car before leaving the garage.
◼︎ What is considered formal attire?
This is a Black-Tie event. Check out the Attire page for specific information.
◼︎ Do I have to wear a uniform?
Military members are required to wear the appropriate uniform. The only exception are dual military member couples. One member will be required to be in uniform, but the other may wear formal civilian attire.
◼︎ What is a cocktail hour?
This is when attendees mingle and take photos. Also referred to as social time, it means drinking socially and responsibly. If you do decide to drink, make sure you have a plan in advance to ensure you get home safely.
◼︎ Will there be dancing?
Absolutely! We hope you join us on the dance floor for fun, dancing and celebration.

▪︎Make sure you buy your tickets from one of our authorized ticket sellers. If you are considering an offer from an individual selling Coast Guard Ball tickets, please note that ticket transfers / sales need to be coordinated with Brandy Campbell ([email protected]) or Anne Gooch ([email protected]) so that price / menu / seating arrangements can be resolved.
Sadly, be aware that scams exist.
▪︎ Be Respectful to others and to the traditions. Make sure you are seated before the ceremony begins and refrain from talking or texting while the ceremony is taking place.
▪︎ Remember to have fun. If you are seated with people you don't know, be sure to introduce yourself. The purpose of the evening is to celebrate and honor the heritage of the Coast Guard and the Coasties who have served and continue to serve our nation. Relax and enjoy the evening.
